Well this is the good the bad and the ugly of DW5XL
Well lets get down to number one The challenge mode. Lets see here, basicaly the same things in all of them, Bridge Melee, Time Attack, ect. Nothing really different. Except for the new ones.
Number two Xtreme Mode. Boy how many times have I seen this, in DW4XL They had this and it plain out sucked to, It was really to hard for someone just starting the series. In this one its a little bit easier. You choose one of the 48 characters (And this doesnt include made up characters, you can use them in this mode though) and you choose which area (Out of three) You go to. There is a difference though, in this one there is a Shop, AND a blacksmith Where you can upgrade your weapon (You start out with a weapon that has 5 atk if not 3, which makes it really hard for newcomers to play the game and not die) with makeing it lighter, heavier, more attack and adding special effects to it. Another new thing is that you can have more then three officers with you (Not on the field though) you can now have a total of 6 officers, 3 with you 3 in your reserve.
Number 3 Legends Mode. Man this is the worst part of this game. You can't choose your own characters you must choose between three and five, automaticaly choosen, which is no fun at all.
Number 4 Destiny Mode. Proboly the most interesting part of this game. You basicaly make your own character, choose what they wear choose their weapon (Out of three: Sword, Spear, and Pike.) Then you choose your body type (Short thin tall stocky) then choose one of the 48 characters to be your general. At first you start out as low of low, private class, work hard and youll be promoted to Sargent, Then to major, then finaly to LT. General. You gain points to learn new abilities, like charge, ambush, ice arrows, peirce, ect. You don't start out with a musou charge. nor many attacks, at first if you dont look at get skill area you will only attack two times. In turn its fun, eventualy you start getting your generals weapons, then their advanced weapons. You have to earn riding a horse. And its very hard beating the higher ranks.
Number 5 and final is the edit mode. You have new ways to edit your created characters, however....You must unlock them by playing destiny mode. You can create Up to 11 different Characters. Which you can use in Xtreme mode.
All in All this game wasn't at all what its cracked up to be, now if you could like create your own army hand in hand, handpicked without limits you could really have fun with this game but until then ill Give this a 6.0.
