a yoonik! Dying Light review: Zombie murder-fest at its best

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

No Caption Provided

- An open-world zombie massacre game where you control in first person a parkour-master protagonist on the hunt for a classified document

PROS:

- Incredibly designed and well-realized city/slum setting, filled to the brim with a whole slew of zombies to cut open, traversed with a pretty nice parkour game mechanic (which is a perfect excuse to get rid of the fast travel option)

- Extremely enjoyable zombie violence, featuring heads flying and bodies opening and blood gushing in glorious slow-motion, and a wide variety of unique and crafted weapons. You can spend hours in this game just murdering those bastards and not be bored (during the daytime at least)

- Nerve-wracking night gameplay, where you're worst nightmares come to life quite literally. Zombies of increased speed and strength emerge to hunt you down, inciting genuine fright every time the sun goes down, and that's not mentioning when they actually see you and hunt you down up to the ends of the earth

- Extremely freaky zombie designs and attributes, especially that annoying bastard that explodes when you get close to it

CONS:

- Pretty bland and uninteresting main story and side quests, featuring cliched mission design like a dream sequence and fetch quests and quick-time battles (except for that one where you though you're responding to a distress call, only to get trapped by a maniac, or that one where you get thrown in the arena with a ****load of zombies without your weapons)

- Uncharismatic and forgettable characters in general

- Pretty off-putting voice acting of the protagonist
