Dyad is one of this generation's shiniest gems.

3 days ago, I had no idea what Dyad was. I saw it on the PSN store and thought nothing of it. However, I stumbled upon a gameplay video of Dyad and was surprised at how good it looked. I decided I would drop the $12 on it and hope for the best. Turns out, this is one of the best games I've played in a very long time.

Graphics - The hallucinogenic style of this game makes it unique. Dyad is extremely colorful, which is something that is hard to come by nowadays. It's very difficult to describe how this game looks well, so I highly recommend watching a clip on YouTube.

Sound - This is by far the highlight of the game. The soundtrack is phenomenal. The closest comparison I can make is the soundtrack to Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. For those that have listened to the band The Field, it sounds pretty close to that. If you've never heard of The Field and like the music in this game, make sure to check them out.

Gameplay - The gameplay is reminiscent of the classic arcade game Tempest. You spin in a circle while "hooking" on to enemies, which increases your speed through the tunnel. Once again it's very hard to describe in words. However, playing this game for yourself will explain everything. This is one of the most addictive games I've played. All of the elements come together so well and create something entirely unique. I've heard people compare this to Rez, but I have not played that game so I'm not sure.

Replay Value - Dyad is short, but I am sure I will be revisiting this game over and over to get 3 stars on each level along with the trophies and increasing my high score. There's so many reasons to come back to this game.

Verdict - Buy this game. While it only takes about 2-3 hours to complete, it is some of the most fun 2-3 hours you will have all year. This game is currently my favorite of the year, and it's going to be hard to top this.
