While it is not completely comform the rules of D&D it still has a all round D&D feel to it. A great game for the fan.

I must start by saying that I'm a complete D&D addict and therefor might overate this game slightly. D&D heroes is based on D&D, the paper based roll playing game, and although they don't always abide by the rules of D&D they have still managed to capture that great D&D feeling. This is especially apparent in the multiplayer option of the game, there's nothing more fun that absolutely obliterating hordes of foul creatures together with a friend of relative. You really get the team spirit (which the paper based game offers you to) and different characters such as the rogue, fighter, wizard and cleric work together perfectly. There's not a single combination that won't work, yet they are all unique. There is no strong story line is this game (and it doesn’t have to, because it's pure hack and slash action). Still the slight story line that the game does offer is pretty cool, especially the cut scenes which aren't state of the art but still pretty impressive. Seeing a beholder threatening to kill you in a cut scene is a pretty cool warm up for beating the crap out of him 10 seconds later. The graphics aren't state of the art either, yet they are extremely satisfying. If you release a meteor rain upon one of your enemy's and the whole screen is filling with meteors crashing down upon the earth beneath you feel pretty cool. The creature are also pretty cool, you clearly see a resemblance to the paper based D&D creatures, which is really nice. My conclusion is that although D&D Heroes introduces nothing new to the genre and isn't the best hack and slash out there it is still very enjoyable for the fan and for everyone that enjoys a great multiplayer Hack and Slash game. If you can get this game for under $20 it's most definitely worth trying it. It will offer you some good fun and has pretty nice replay value due to the different characters you can play.
