It won't revolutionize the FPS but it's still good old-fashioned fun

User Rating: 7.5 | Duke Nukem Forever X360
Yes, the graphics are dated and it seems behind the times especially for taking more than 12 years to develop. Sure, the combat mechanics can get downright frustrating and the controls clunky. But it's still a fun ride and if you're a fan of Duke Nukem at all, you should get some enjoyment out of this title.

As games evolve, so do gamers. We need rich involving stories and developed characters and awesome graphics etc. Duke Nukem Forever has none of this. It's old school and in this day in age for gaming, it's kind of refreshing. If you grew up on games like wolfenstein or doom where the FPS got it's start, you'll dig this.

The game starts out with Duke being a celebrity/hero after he saved earth from the alien invasion from Duke Nukem 3D. Not long afterwards, another invasion breaks out and you're back in the fight to kick some alien ass. Along the way, you come across all the weapons, enemies and powerups that you remember from DN3D. You can interact with certain objects in your environment which increases your max health with an"ego boost". Haven't spent too much time on the multiplayer as it's nothing really special. The campaign is a little short (6-7 hrs) but with the price being only $10-20 for it brand new, it's definitely worth picking this one up.

Had this game come out several years prior, it probably would have gotten more positive reviews. Unfortunately since it took forever, the game suffered and it shows. It's dated and ugly. It won't revolutionize the FPS, set any standards, or be the next COD blah blah blah. But if you're looking to just pop something in your system, clear your mind, and mindlessly kill aliens, then this game is for you.
