Duke Nukem 1 is a classic Duke Nukem game, and is tons of fun to play!

User Rating: 10 | Duke Nukem PC
Duke Nukem 1 was released in 1991 by Apogee Software, and had excellent graphics for its time, and was the first game about Duke Nukem. in Duke 1, Duke has to stop Dr. Proton, an evil doctor who wants to rule the world(this is the same Dr. Proton who was going to return in Duke Nukem Forever, and actually, still might, depending on how much the story has changed since we last saw the game).

The graphics are interesting and colorful, and Duke moves through three episodes- Shrapnel City, Moonbase, and Trapped in the Future. The game is a sidescroller, and Duke jumps onto platform and runs through the levels blowing up Dr. Proton's robots. There is only one weapon in the game. Duke can power it up so that it fires more rapidly by collecting weapon pickups. Duke Nukem can have an inventory of items. One item that you find is a grappling hook that allows Duke to hang onto certain ceilings and platforms. Another powerup is the boots. They give Duke the ability to jump much higher than he normally would. There's also a robot-hand that lets you extend beams to walk on using Dr. Proton's own systems. Duke also must collect keycards of different colors to unlock doors in the game. There are a bunch of interesting enemies in the game. There are helicopters that chase you around, regular robots that go back and forth and hurt you if they run into you, spinning flaming robots, and more.

Duke Nukem 1 is a lot of fun to play, and I recommend it to all Duke fans.
