First things first... Driv3r isn't a bad game. It just isn't as good of a game as it should be. For all the hype and all the excitement, this game is a bit of a let down. Driv3r reminds me of older games that wanted to be so much more then they were. It tries too hard and can't seem to make it. Graphics are good at times but others they aren't. Objects appear out of nowhere and textures pop up at the last minute. It seems as if the designers wanted to make everything look good but they just didn't have memory to pull it off. For that reason it tends to remind me of older games that are just pushing the limits of the current hardware. I find myself wondering if this game was just trying to put too much into the package. This may have been a game for the next gen of consoles. I also find that the controls are weak. Inside the car they function well. Maybe not to everyone's liking but with a little practice I found them average. Outside of the car however, the game takes a turn for the worst. Controls are rough and akward and the gameplay is almost forced. Bottom line, if you're playing the game, try not to get out of the car any more than you have to. Over all feel of the career mode with cutscence is exactly what they were going for, a cinematic feel. The problem is, much of this feel seems to have come at the expense of the gameplay. Overall, I would recommend the game but be aware that your expectations shouldn't be quite as high as they probably are.
