Although enjoyable at some times, Dragon's Lair 3D leaves something to be desired.

Ever since the original Dragon's Lair was released in 1983, there have been numerous remakes of this exciting adventure. This game, however, is one remake you can afford to skip. There are so many problems in this game that I lost count. At all times the camera seems to be working against you, randomly panning out and behind you. The controls are so slow that when you press the button to jump, almost a full second passes before your'e actually off the ground. The combat is pretty uneventful. It's basically just swing your sword randomly and try to hit something. The boss fights are horribly planned out as well. One fight pits you against a knight who makes colored tiles come toward you on the ground. The goal is to get across the field to him without stepping on a colored tile. The sloppy controls make this extremely hard.

Dragon's Lair 3D is not without it's merits however. It still has the undeniable charm of the original arcade game with Dirk's girly shrieks and hilarious deaths, and it does a good job of recreating some of the original levels from the arcade game, but if you are looking for a good quality remake of Dragon's Lair, stick with the PC version.
