This game is more of an expansion pack then it is a new game.

If you played any of the other 6 Dragonball Z Budokai(Tenkaichi)games then you pretty much know what to expect to see with this game. That being said its nice to see this game return to the style in which these games shine. Out of all 6 games, Dragonball Z Budokai 3 is the best and this game takes from that and adds a little shine and some new minigames to make your $20.00 worth spending.

This time around however, the series waste no time with the story, though that shouldnt matter seeing as how there are 6 games prior to this one, the anime and then the manga. Lets face it if people didnt buy the other DBZ games they arent going to get this one. So this game is game is really for the people who played the past ones. However, the cutscenes are really polished, they dont use in game cutscenes like in the past but rather the style of the opening movies from the Tenkaichi series.

On to the gameplay. Seeing this game go back to the original Budokai style really makes me happy, While I played the Tenckaichi games I wasn't a fan of the split screen fighting so this game is a real blast. However this game(like all the DBZ games) dont act like traditional fighters, and if you are looking for one of those you are in the wrong place. This game is a simple basher with a punch, kick, block and ki button but the combo possibilities are limitless(sort of)once you get use to the controls.

The only thing that gets annoying is the failure of lip syncing in this game, the voice acting is good in this and the cutscenes are polished its just they dont line up. Of course you can put up the Japanese voice acting but I am a personal fan of the funimation DUBs.

overall the game is fun but if you played one of the older games you arent missing out on anything, however if your looking for a cheap game to get for your PS2 then this is the game to get, Fun Multiplayer, new minigames and a classic(for this series) fighting style. I give it a 7.5
