Will be up for game of the year, and rightfully so

There are people out there who are upset about the changes from Origins to DA2. The most noticeable difference would have to be the combat system. Instead of a "constant turn-based" system (Origins was like a mix of turn based and RTS) they changed it to be a blend of Final Fantasy XIII and Dante's Inferno. You have the ability to command your party members; however, you tap A every time you wish to swing your weapon or cast a spell. It is so much better than Origins battle system. I don't understand why people are against the change (must be for change's sake). This is like someone giving you a brand new car and you giving it back and keep your old beat up 1980's Geo. It makes no sense why people have a problem with this new combat system.

The only problem I had with this game is the fact that they did a "copy and paste" effect with all their maps. The reason they did this is because you are in the same area the entire time during the game (Kirkwall). However, I think they did need to create some new maps. I liked how Origins had a world map and you could go to many different towns. This would've been nice for DA2, however, Kirkwall was much more detailed and complex than any town in Origins.

Turn-based combat is old and boring. It used to be fun in like Final Fantasy VII - X but now its just outdated. This current type of combat of a turn-based hack-and-slash combination is by far much more exciting than tradition turn-based combat. After reading some other reviews, come people were complaining about the less intense character creation system. FF never let you design characters. In fact, pretty much only Bioware has done that. In DA2, they did take some of that aspect away, but not completely. If this affects whether or not you buy the game like I've read, then you need to go get a Barbie doll and play dress up if that's all you care about. Play the game, who cares if you can't control exactly how big your butt looks.

Scores:

Graphics: 8.5/10
Felt that it could've been better (somewhat felt cartoonish). However, still good.

Sounds: 10/10
Great music, great sounds, not the annoying music some RPGs throw out there.

Gameplay: 9.5/10
Love the decision-making. Love the classes (especially mage class). Combat system is AMAZING. Only downfall is the copy and pasted maps but not a huge deal.

Story: 9.5/10
Very creative twist on the Origins story. Hopefully, DA3 will combine DA2 and DA:O. That would be great. Characters in this game are fun and invigorating.

Replay Value: 9.5/10
The story changes whether you play as a mage, rogue, or warrior, and if you are male or female. You can beat the game in 30-40 hours or do everything and not finish until you've played 50+ hours.
