This is an underrated video game, as this game has more to the table, not just with it's cover art...

User Rating: 7 | Dr. Muto PS2
This is some of the few games Midway released in the 21st century (this game was originally released in 2002), and while some were good, they were not the best compared to others at the time, including this one...

Story: 7.5 (A start with both humor and mystery, not in the best sense of the word mind you.)
Graphics: 7.5 (The details may look difficult, but that shouldn't be a problem.)
Music: 6.5 (The sounds are okay, but get very tiring eventually...)
Sound: 8 (Some good voice acting somewhat, with both comedy, profanity, and other stuff that need not be spoken.)

The story stars off with Dr. Muto revealing his latest project, which is meant to supposedly power a dozen planets...but a certain "accident" causes Muto's home planet to be destroyed, save for his home. With advice/assistance from his A.I, Al, Dr. Muto searches planet to planet in order to find pieces needed in order to rebuild his home planet. The start can be both interesting and uninteresting, even a headache at some parts, but eventually it appears interesting with a few potholes in the way (what I'm saying is that it's good, but with some bad mixed along with it).

The game-play, is sort of new compared to most games to play, as with abilities needed to go to certain areas in the game, Dr. Muto needs to copy pieces of DNA and splice them into a device called the Splizz Gun, which enables him into morphing into several animals and finding the pieces required to build a device to rebuild his planet (I already said that, didn't I?). The Splizz gun is the primary weapon in the game, along with temporary weapons that Dr. Muto will also need to go to certain areas and find several pieces to build the Genitor 9000. This, is simply a platform game and because of that, can make the game both intuitive and frustrating, for example, activating switches and unlocked gates over and over can give someone a headache (like myself). The enemies are usually too similar, and eventually are just a distraction than a challenge, and their are only four bosses (equaling four planets in total to explore), while this game is still good, it can still be irritating at several moments.

This game is certainly not for everyone, and is certainly not a bad game, just misunderstood and not "polished" enough. I no longer have this in my collection, yet I will still hold a few memories of playing, which is why I'd recommend this game to casual players, otherwise I would think on purchasing it.
