DownHill Domination might possibly be the most Extreme title of the Extreme Game genre.
Downhill dominations game play , is pretty simple and realy fun , race 6-9 other Riders in different class-type courses ,ride down a giant GIANT mountain , first one to the finish wins , pull off huge mountain-bike tricks and hit your fellow racers with sticks , hip checks , kicks and water bottles. Boost icons are spread through the course witch will set you way past the already impressive speed , Huge jumps are here to pull of sick MX-style stricks , and the locations are beautiful , full of action and huge. You can ride almost anywhere on the moutain! , just when you think your going to be reset back on the course because you feel you have gone to far , you find another track , that just might get you to the finishj line quicker. I had onbe problem with this as , i would think i went out of bounds , so id stop playing waiting to reset , and guess what , i actualy found a new track , this will take some getting use to , so you dont crash into a huge rock when you think you have already gone off course. the crashes are almost Dave mirra like with Brutal Body crunching dives that are painful to watch. Tricks are easy to pull off and tweak and the combat system ( if your not already miles in front) comes in handy and is effective. overall races are fun ,fast and extreme.
Grphics are a mixed bag , as riders are not overly impressive ( they are ok) the envivorments are wonders of beauty , wether its snow , city , schools , desert , jungle or grass. Thunder storms , cars , Hikers , water , lava , Animals all look good , as you fly past them at amazing speeds.
Sound is also a mixed bag , with some great music tracks on the list ( and some homemade rapping about Mountain biking) . The charcacters one liners get boring quickly , the Austalian girl decided to call every move or none move , " i call that on down Unda'" . SFX is pretty good wether it be bike chains , pedal work , waterfalls , or thunder.
Presentation is impressive , nice Career /arcade modes and a large bike shop for full customisation . You can unlock MIni -Game type events , Earn cash for secrets/cheats and Earn sponserships uniforms to wear. Characters are the usual bunch of SSx type stero-types ,and there are some Pro Bikers you can unlock later.
the game can get pretty easy on all difficultys , but its fun enough to keep going race after race.
Downhilll Domnination is Extreme in gameplay and impressive in overall presentation. If you feel like Dave Mirra mixed with SSX is a good idea , this game is right for you . If your a casual gamer or Extreme Genre lover ...........this game is also for you .
