Back in the 1980s, there was a wide selection of arcade games with every genre but platformers held the greatest spot in my heart. One game in particular I can still remember to this day and with Xbox live allowing you to get the original Double Dragon, it seems like time to revisit the Sega Master System version of one of the best platformers to come out in the 1980s.

Double Dragon is a pretty standard beat'em up. You play as Billy or Jimmy who are brothers. One in blue and the other in red. There's nothing spectacular here in the way of the story. Billy's girlfriend has been kidnapped by some thugs in a ruthless gang and it's up to you, and your brother to get her back. You'll play through four levels that will take you about thirty minutes to conquer. The games will take to through the streets of pure thuggery, forests and finally the hideout of the gang.

The first three levels will allow you to have unlimited continues so it's not hard but by the fourth level, everything is for keeps so you have to stay sharp, especially considering there are one hit kills everywhere in the level. The game allows you the standard array of attacks from punches to jump kicks and once you find out the patterns of the enemies, it's pretty standard fare. What does juice up the game a little is the catchy music and assorted weapons you can use like whips and bats. The arsenal that is provided for you is more than exceptional and quite fun to use.

The game is rather short as I stated before but it is definitely a fun game for a few playthroughs. You can pick this game up for dirt cheap on the Ebay so I encourage you do to so if you want to romp through some classic gaming.
