Old soldiers never die, they just turn into blood thirsty mutant zombies.

Ultimate Doom - even to this very day, this game is still really fun to play. If you are not a graphics junkie anyway. I love the levels in this game. It is not too difficult either. It starts you out with some nice small to medium sized levels and then as you reach the half way point, or there abouts, you start to see the difficulty increase a little. I dont find it hard at all, even on Nightmare mode - but on this mode you do need to keep an eye on your Health as they are a little quicker at shooting and better at aiming too. This can be said though for all the Doom games in this package. Everyone who has played Ultimate Doom will never forget their first time on it. I mean the game leaves that kind of impact that wont go away. Even Doom 3 has a similar impact on me when playing for the first time. But not just quite as good as U.D had. The monsters were pretty good in design as well for the time it came out. I mean the style of them has yet to be bettered by any game. I dont think we will ever see such originality as a Cacodemon or Cyberdemon or Chaingunner or Mancubus (Doom 2 and Final Doom), Revenant, etc. The thought put into designing these creatures and making them a reality in pixel form is excellent indeed.

Doom 2: Hell On Earth - This entry to the series brings one or two new things - guns, monsters, newer levels. The only new gun in the series up till now is the sawn off 12 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun. When you use it, it feels really hard to go back to the pump-action shotgun. As it is just so damn addictive to use lol. The levels in this one are way bigger than in U.D they are slightly tougher as well. When they throw monsters at you it is the big ones they throw, not the puny ones. Most of the time anyway. As you work your way to the end of this title it feels like you have been through hell and back, compared to U.D's difficulty.

Final Doom - The toughest of the Doom series I think. Each level is specially chosen from thousands of WAD levels people make with the level editor. Or so I read in Games Master magazine a while back (Games Master - a UK mag). This game makes you really work to get to the exit alive. It throws everything in the Doom universe at you and doesn't hold back. I have seen Cyberdemons early on in the game, when I am not used to seeing them till the half way point or further on. It pits you against hordes of the undead and demons time after time. You get ambushed more times than in Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 put together and then some and from all angles, which usually leads to some language that would make "Happy Gilmore" blush. I love Final Doom, I love it as much as U.D maybe even slightly more. For I cannot get enough of the thrill I get when issued with the challenge of surviving every level you go into in Final Doom. And not knowing if you will come out of the next level alive clinging to the tiny bit of health you have left, or die trying to reach the exit.

This little gem of a package will never leave my collection.

This Doom package is one of the best value packages in video game history. Infact I have only known one other package that has as good a quality in it and that is, "Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Limited Edition (Xbox) " which had: GTA 3, GTA: VC, GTA: SA.

Hell's minions will forever be with me, all thanx to ID Software.
