A scarier DOOM, and a good one I might add.
All the demons look really crisp and... well, scary in this one. The shading work is really great. What I sometimes can't get use to is the darkness, you need to turn the brightness up all the way in the settings to get a clear view. The atmosphere sounds are kinda neat too, but might be a little dated now when comparing them to DOOM 3. But you see, this is where that idea started. It might be different, but it really does enhance the game. The level design and quantity is also decent by N64 standards.
I also think the controls are pretty good. Using the shoulder buttons to side step is pretty convenient, and I find the anolog control, although not as tight as other DOOMS, still really good, especially for an N64 game. The weapon changing can be slightly awkward sometimes, but I got use to it.
I think if you are a DOOM fan or a fan of N64 shooters, this is worth having in your collection. It's not a masterpiece or groundbreaking, but its a solid iteration of the DOOM franchise, and a good technical feat for its time.
