The SNES may not be as powerful as the PC or the Xbox 360, but it's still DOOM!

User Rating: 8.5 | DOOM SNES
The Super Nintendo is not as powerful as some of the other consoles we have now, but it can still play Doom well!

Let's talk about the graphics. On the SNES, Doom doesn't look outstanding, and is not as detailed as the PC version, but it does not look bad. In fact, I would call them pretty good for the Super Nintendo.

Many people have complained about the slow frame rate, but it's really not that bad. After playing for only a few minutes, you will get used to it. Sometimes you get stuck on the corners of the maps, and that can get annoying, but it does not really bring the gameplay down.

This version is great at being Doom. All the monsters except one ( the spectre) are present in the game. Even the Cyberdemon and Spiderdemon are there for you to kill. These two bosses are not present in many other ports of Doom. There is plenty of gore to keep one happy, and shooting demons is oh so fun. The gameplay is awesome, and will keep you entertained for hours on end.

Did you like the great Doom soundtrack in the PC version? Well, it's here on the SNES version. It sounds awesome, and sometimes gives you the creeps at night.

Probably the part that stops me from giving the game a 9.5 is the no-save feature. You can't save in this game. You have to start each episode from the beginning. I hate that. At least all the episodes are available when you first turn on the game.

Overall, this port of Doom is absolutely amazing. If you own a Super Nintendo, this game is a must. Get ready for many creepy hours of killing as many demons as you want!
