DOOM (1993)

Just simply the most fun I could have on a PC...in 1994

This game is amazing. It holds a well deserved cult status among mature gamers and younger gamers alike. Hours can be wasted late into the night, blasting zombies with the shot gun or running down imps with the chainsaw.

The story line of this game is archetypal. The UAC base on Phobos, on of Mars moons, whose name means fear, has dropped contact. You go to check it out...oh, they have been experimenting with teleportation technology. What could go wrong?

That about all the story you need as you fps your way through mazes, who ever designed this base anyways, blasting the animated bodies of fallen marines and 'ported in hell spawn. Hidden rooms and goodies abound, and even secret levels are spaced throughout.

Simple, gory (one of the original 'parent scarer's' and devilishly addictive, one of the favourites I will always return to.
