If you are one of the RPG faithful who enjoyed Two Worlds, give this a look.

Like Two Worlds, Divinity 2 has some technical problems. In fact they share a jittery framerate and slightly grainy computerish graphics. (I assume it would look great on a monitor, 2 feet from my face, but on a tv 10 feet away it has me squinting like crazy). Also the save system is broken at this point. Save in a dungeon and you will get a red screen when you load, freezing the game and forcing a reboot (it's fine when you load from the main menu). Also, if you save outside, you sometimes end up loading back at the location of a previous save with all of your progress, kills, and xp intact.

If you can ignore the technical problems the game is quite fun. It offers a challenging, every encounter could be you last, combat system. The pacing is great, you will barely survive multiple enemy attacks, general enemies will bring you down, then suddenly you gain a few levels and start owning. Just when you get comfortable you reach an new area, suddenly you are a three hit kill again.

Crowd control is a must and with all of the skills available you will find something that works for you. Either take some warrior skills and bash the crap out of anything that comes along before his buddies reach you. Summon some creatures and make an army of your own, or cast a quick charm to make some new temporary friends. The manual says you choose from 3 classes. That is not really the case. You choose one skill to leave the starting area with from 3 classes and from there you are free to spend your skill points in any of 5 skill trees at any time each time you level. I left the first town as a mage, put some skills in Dragon Slayer, beefed up my mage stats, then threw in some priest summon and charm skills. Oh and I dual wield swords, wear full armor and pick locks.

If this sounds good give the game a shot. You know better than me what you can put up with in a game. I am enjoying it, yelling at it, then picking the controller up for more.
