First of all, Disgaea Infinite is a sort of "solve-the-mystery" visual novel. The story revolves around a lone Prinny (human soul in a penguin bodysuit) that attempts to stop the "assassination" of Overlord Laharl. Using an artifact that closely resembles a pocket watch and is known only as "Tick Tock," Prinny must possess and control the minds of characters to gather info related to the assassination attempt. I was extremely disappointed by the overall short length of the game, as the Disgaea series is well known for it's length and replay value. Being forced to adopt the old strategy of trial and error can cause it to get tedious and a little boring at times, but never enough to make you put down the game. Disgaea's newest installment does succeed well in one aspect, however, and it is surely humor. Infinite is as hilarious as the rest of the series, and has many "laugh-out-loud" moments. Infinite also brings several classic songs from the Disgaea series, but no new tunes emerge.
Final Score: 8/10
Disgaea Infinite is a fun and quirky adventure that fans of the series will definitely enjoy. Everyone else should rent it first.
