From a newcomer perspective, this game is very inviting for those who had never played a game of the series.

User Rating: 8.5 | Makai Senki Disgaea 4 PS3
This review is for and from someone who has never played a game of Disgaea series before. I must start saying that Disgaea 4 ISN'T confusing for newcomers, because it has a completely different story line from the past other games from the series. The game has a complete tutorial for the battle, and you can go back and do the tutorial again if you forgot something, the battle can be a little confusing at the beginning, but after the first or second chapter, you will have already mastered your way in to battle. You can create a new fighter, that can even be a monster, to fight along side you, choosing from default characters that will start at level 0, no matter at what level the main characters may be. The story really sucks you in, with it's amazing world and charismatic characters, it will last very long, although it doesn't have any side quests, the game makes up by having a mode of infinite levels where you can UP your characters at a much faster rate by killing a lot of enemies, with a fight after another. You can reach level 9999, but it will take time, A LOT OF TIME, seriously say good bye to your social life (assuming you have one) if you wanna get to level 9999. It's comic graphics are great, although the attack effects could be a little better, they are REALLY fun to watch, and you can skip them if you get tired of them by pressing a button or going in the menu and disabling the animation. Disgaea will make you fell like you discovered a anime with a great story and charismatic characters, where you can play them and make them as powerful as you can. Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten will suck you in by it's story, characters, and nostalgic role-playing game. If you are a fan of the gender them you definitely have to play this game.
