Disciples 2 stands out as one of the better TBS's, but after so many hours, the experience can become stale.

User Rating: 7.5 | Disciples II: Gold Edition PC
Disciples 2, along with it's collection of expansions make up for a large portion of my time spent playing any TBS on any platform. It's an engaging experience and is an aesthetically beautiful game to look at. It's game play however, can become repetitive after a while, and I found that the expansions for it could not hold my attention

Disciples 2 kept much of original formula intact from the original Disciples. The four playable races include the Empire, the Mountain Clans, the Undead Hoards, and the Legions of the Damned, as well as the Elves, which become available in a later expansion. Each race has a very distinctive feel, unique units and heros, as well as different spells, which gives each race a different feeling when playing. This leads to the game having a good amount of variety. However even with it's variety from race to race, Disciples 2 is a very long game, with each race having it's own sizable campaign in the main game as well as each expansion, meaning that the length in hours can be pushed well into the triple digits. This would normally be a good thing, once you hit the second expansion, you will really need to be hardcore to press on, due to the fact that you are essentially give more and more of the same.

The overall impression is that Disciples 2 is a great game, but it's numerous expansions should be left only for major fans of the formula, casual TBS'ers will grow weary.
