Fun, But Not What I Expected

User Rating: 6.5 | Colin McRae: DiRT PS3
DiRT is a technically proficient game with tight controls, but, its biggest downfall is that you spend more time racing the clock than racing actual other drivers. Granted, if you want, you can play online, but over half of the career mode is all rally races, in which you try to beat a specified time set on the course. I'm not saying these aren't fun, but in my opinion a racing game should have you racing drivers, not their times. But, on the bright side, DiRT looks fantastic, and the damage your car takes is very realistic. Not too over the top (Burnout), but doesn't make you feel invincible (Gran Turismo). The big rig challenges are fun just because of the fact your driving a Wal-Mart truck up the side of Pikes Peak, but are a little too slow and hard to control for my tastes. All in all, if you like time trial type racers, you'll most likely love DiRT, but, if you're like me and like racing actual cars, DiRT is a great weekend rental.
