Not nearly as good as previous Ralley games.

Seeing as how this is pretty much the only option for a ralley racing game these days I figured i'd give this game a try. I will go on record and state that I was not a fan of DiRT 2. It's too bad that game made me want to go back and play the older Colin Mcrae and Rallisport Challenge games since they know what the core crowd wants.

The vast majority of the cars in this game have VERY loose handling regardless of what terrain you happen to be driving on or how you tune the car. Speaking of tuning, the options for that are incredibly weak as you get the 5 settings for a few parts on the car. I played on the most difficult setting and rarely felt challenged by the weak A.I. you'd think it was their first time driving a ralley car, lol. On the brightside the single player career is quite lengthy with plenty of variety across ralley, rallicross, trailblazer, land trucks, gymkhana, and specialty events. I found Gymkhana to be interesting but hard to pick up since it's mostly all flash and style rather than racing for the best time. All negatives aside it kept me entertained. 9/10

There are plenty of newer and classic ralley cars in this game and you can even buy DLC with some rather non-convential cars like a Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, or Saturn Sky. I always felt like I had to pick the one that gave me the best rep regardless if it was a car that I liked or had the best performance. The game features only a handful of different locations but the tracks are pretty good. Unfortunately, the developers decided that you cant finish single player without buying DLC, yes that's right you have to purchase additional tracks to finish the seasons that came with the game. Speaking of which the downloads were in kilobytes which tells me that the content was already on the disc. Absolutely unacceptable in my book, they should be ashamed. 4/10 for content

The graphics for this game are good but not great. I see a ton of low res textures all over the place that make it quite obvious that the game is a console port. The cars are probably the best looking objects in the game and what's sad is that i've seen better looking models in Forza. I will give them props for varying weather effects such as rain and snow that affect visibility and handling. 8/10

I'm not a huge fan of the music they put into this game but it's not bad either so we'll call that a personal opinion. Now the managers that talk to you and try to give you "advice", they are incredibly annoying. I swear if I hear the mechanic guy say some more lame slang words i'm gonna puke. I've noticed that most of the cars in this game sound almost exactly the same. Really guys? You couldnt do a better job? 5/10

I did not play any multiplayer for this game so I wont rate that. This was a fun title but I felt that it didnt quite measure up to ralley games of the past. Also, I would have rated it a 7.5 if it werent for the shady DLC tactics. I really hope that DICE comes back to make Rallisport Challenge 3 running on the Frostbite 2.0 engine to show these guys hows its done.
