You'd think the developers would have done better with touch screen controls, but the DS version is still worth a look.

User Rating: 7 | Diner Dash: Sizzle & Serve DS
Diner Dash is a pretty successful casual game series. It deserves to be because it is as fun as it's made out to be, if not more. While I thought the touch screen controls would do well for the game, they don't really, and while it is still fun the DS version is probably the worst out of all the versions.

You run a diner, seat people, take their orders, serve people, have them pay, and then clear up the tables. You can chain tasks, like dropping checks to all the people at once, to get a bonus. The game is actually rather easy and I managed to get an Expert ranking on every level, but it's still fun. There are different customers, for example bookworms are slow to order and eat but are patient whereas businesswomen are quick to order and eat but are extremely impatient. If a customer's patience runs out, they take 500 out of your money and leave.

It's pretty much the same as the original game, but the art-style has been changed to a more childish, shall we say, appearance, and while it is cute it's not as good as the original game's cartoonish art style. The sound effects are good, and the music, though there is little of it, is good.

The touchscreen controls are a problem, which is really disappointing since the developers could have done better. Seating people is one of the biggest frustrations because it's so tedious. You press an arrow at the bottom left of the screen, the screen scrolls to the left to let you see the customers, drag them to their table and then go through the annoyance of seating them so the colours match and you score more. When you have a whole line of customers waiting this just doesn't work.

If you can't have any other version, the Nintendo DS version still worth it. If you can get one of the other versions though, you should choose them.
