Digimon Rumble Arena is a super smash bros style 2D fighter featuring the lovable digital monsters. The player can choose from a selection of 24 digimon (from seasons 1-3), 9 of which are the digivolved counterparts, and six of which are secret characters. Using these characters, you must play through a series of matches with the ultimate goal of defeating Reapermon. There are 7 large stages in which one may duke it out. Each of these stages has a unique feature that makes it stand out compared to the others, one revolves every so often, etc. The game controls using one attack button and two for special moves and of course another for jumping. After filling the charge gauge of your digimon, you are able to digivolve to the highest level and wreak some havoc, there is however a time restriction on this and after a while you revert to the rookie stage. If one unleashes their ultimate attack with their mega digimon, you instantly revert, but can take a whole third of your enemy's health. Like in Smash Bros various items are scattered around the stage for collection and usage to shake the battle up a bit. Whilst the singleplayer does become a little boring after a while, the multiplayer is good fun as it is more of a challenge. There are also a range of minigames to serve as a nice little distraction, these are entertaining, for all of five minutes.Though not groundbreaking in terms of gameplay you can still have a good time.

Graphically the game is quite nice. The character animation runs smooth, and some of the levels and finishing moves of the megas are done quite well. The soundtrack is typically anime and is not too hard on the ears. The voice acting is ok, albeit a little wooden at times. To sum up, this game is fun but lacks too much replay value.
