A game for the Die Hard die-hards.

User Rating: 5.9 | Die Hard: Vendetta GC
Die Hard: Vendetta is a typical Hollywood-based game, i.e., it did not turn out quite as well as it could have. Regardless, being a Bruce Willis and Die Hard aficionado, it's difficult to turn away from it.

Basically, our hero John McClane's daughter is in trouble and, of course, he jumps right into the fray to the rescue. Involved in this whole mix-up is Hans Grubers' son, Piet Gruber, surprise surprise. Vendetta spans eleven levels of pure shooting and blasting your enemies right to the high heavens (or depths of hell, perhaps?) which is ridiculously easy; of course you can also always sneak up on the unsuspecting terrorists and arrest them (surely the premium of the process is hearing the bad guys swear, or maybe that's the only part. . . . still fun for a few kicks). Amidst shooting down your numerous adversaries, you also have the option to enter "Hero Time" - which is one of those Max Payne-like mechanics, slowing down time so you may overcome 'great' odds, but that's really not needed here (there's not always power in numbers, not when you're . . . JOHN McCLANE!, kidding).

Bruce Willis does not reprise his role for the game either, the sound-alike is pretty raspy and doesn't quite sound like Willis. After a while you get used to the actor's vocals and accept him as John McClane; yes, he has his moments in B-list infamy. If that doesn't please you - there's still hope, you do have 'ol Reginald Vel Johnson lending his hand as Officer Powell from the original movie, lovely isn't it? But seriously, it does add a kind of authenticity to the game; rather than being just a bunch of sound-alikes (or not) trying to make the cut.

The textures and graphics in the game are pretty bland and nothing stands out much at all. It's all just kind of dull through-and-through. So there's nothing that jumps out at you here either, if that's what you were hoping for.

While this game may sound alarmingly underwhelming, I actually did enjoy it during my time playing. You, whoever you are, probably will not unless you're just pure Die Hard crazy, so keep that mind if you were considering giving this a purchase (that, plus the fact it's most likely dirt cheap by now *wink wink*).
