The best RPG game ever, hands down!
This was the first true RPG I played. I played it all the time on the PSX when it first came out. With all honestly I played it 3-5 hours a DAY for a year back in the late 90s!
Why did I play this game so much (more than FFVII and FFVIII)? Well because I had TOTAL control, it was really the only game I played that had so many items. Nearly every level had a boss, and every time you played it you always got that challenge! My favorite boss is the 'Butcher' is it because he looks weird? Hell no! It's because I spent HOURS and HOURS trying to kill him with the swordsman and NEVER EVER (even to this day) beat him so I gave up and used the Amazon with the bow!
One of the truly amazing things about this game is the 16 levels of depth that goes into the game. Each level changes as you get deeper into the game.
As you play though the game you get new armor/weapons which truly adds to the experience.
This is one of those games that you NEVER forget, you beat it once and you get 'withdrawals' to play it again. Those withdrawals may not be for a year or two you WILL get them and when you you'll get your fix (as have I; I had to buy PC version :-).)
Okay anyways one of the best features of Diablo 1 that was taken out of Diablo 2 is the magic. All players can learn magic. You find books, use them on yourself, get better with magic. Great feature in my eyes which is out of D2 and I presume the upcoming D3.
This is one of those games that you NEED, and if you don't have it that is fine, but if you have never played it I deeply feel sorry for you....
