I want my money back... disappointing... last Blizzard game I buy...
There is no reason why D3 came out 12 years after D2 or why it took over 3 years to develop this game... this game is fitting for a small developer 5 years ago... why did it take them so long to develop when most sounds, mechanics and ideas are reused??!
Anyways... I'll give this a bit more structure and tell you why you should not buy the game:
1) Always-on internet connection required... when the servers go down or you have no internet connection, you cannot play at all... I would be fine with Blizzard telling us that that's their way of combating piracy... but no... they have to lie to us telling us it will "enhance the gaming experience"... awful...
2) Real Money Market Place... if Blizzard insists taking a % fee off all the transactions this game should have been released on a free-to-play basis... you can't expect us to pay for the game and then pay real $$ on top for basic features of the game like trading... this is worse than those "pay to win" free MMORPG's where you pay $$ for good items... this is a game where you have to pay to use a basic feature of the game...
3) Graphics are terrible... I know you want to appeal to as many players as possible... but there is no reason why these graphics should be this terrible in 2012... Blizzard should have been smart enough to plan ahead and develop a more demanding game in 2009 if they expected it to be released in 2012 so the "average" hardware would have the ability to catch up by that time... this game would have run on HIGH back in 2009... in fact... I installed a copy on my old LAPTOP which I bought in the beginning of 2008 and it still plays on high... (8600M GT)... there is no reason why the graphics should be this bad...
4) lack of any kind of customization... it's gone... all of it... characters can't be customized... can only use 6 skills at a time... if you want to switch the skills, it takes forever to do so... and when you switch back, the runes on skills aren't even saved... so you have to re-rune the skills literally every time you click another skill in that tree... they tried to make all skills useful, but people will still use 2-3 skills because others are just as useless as most skills were in D2... they improved on nothing and just took out the good things from D2
5) match making is terrible... you can't make custom games... you can only make/join games by which quest you are doing... joining someone else's private/custom game requires you to have them on your friend list... also your waypoints are erased if you do an earlier quest... probably a way to combat rushing but will still be useless in dealing with it...the game does not take very long to beat at all... there is no reason to rush anymore...
6) no public chat... at least I have yet to find it... can't talk to people... for how much they stressed a "social" experience, the game does a very good job at making you feel very alone...
7) no PVP... after all the delays the game still came unfinished...
8) most things are reused from D2... the story is almost literally the same... just rehashed a little bit... it doesn't build on anything at all... terrible
9) their "interactive environment" is useless... I got to kill like 6 monsters by unchaining a chandelier on top of them... outside of that, things seem to break and explode for no apparent reason at all... with no use or goal for it... it doesn't hurt anyone, it doesn't add anything to the gameplay... it just breaks... cool... not...
All in all this is a very unfinished game that should not have taken this long to develop... Blizzard is punishing everyone with their choices because of the few people that abused the system in D2... all that they needed to do was take D2, make the graphics nice, get rid of hacking and just update it a little bit... and they would be done... instead they took all the things that were bad with D2 and made them worse... I don't know if I will get my $$ back from Blizzard, but regardless this will be the last dollar I give to that company... and this is from a perspective of a die-hard Diablo series fan...
