Diablo II

One of my greatest addictions.

Diablo II was simple amazing. The graphics, by today's standards are definitely outdated and the 2D aspect of the game may turn you off, but you really can't judge a game based on those criteria. Once upon a time, you couldn't get me off this game with a crowbar. I have yet to encounter a game that matches it in addictiveness. The open ended aspect was amazing too. You can either follow the story, or do your own thing and focus on leveling up your character. The sense of community on Battle.net was amazing and one of my greatest joys was playing online in a collaborative way with other people.

Although the visual aspect isn't too great, many many games have attempted to emulate the greatness of Diablo II and none have succeeded as much so far. This, and its expansion, is definitely worth your money and will have you playing for a very, very long time.
