This action game is flash as much as it is substance, and it's a fun and addictive game with plenty of replay value.

Devil May Cry 4
Story = 83 / 100
A very good story, separated in twenty missions. First part is played with the new protagonist, Nero and covers up to mission 11 and the final two missions. The remaining missions are covered by the irreplaceable mercenary, Dante. Each mission is reasonably long, with plenty of combat and puzzles. Not always very clear of where you need to go and some backtracking gets in the way. The second part of the game trenches on the same puzzles, areas and bosses; though it's fun nonetheless.

Replay Value = 88 / 100
I dug myself around 25 hours and completed Easy, Devil Hunter, and started the other two available difficulty and still didn't completely see the game. Missions can be repeated for a better ranking score. Bloody palace becomes available after beating the game on Devil Hunter mode and is worth 100 floors of enemies. Special artwork unlockable by beating harder difficulties.

Gameplay = 92 /100
The game features two playable characters; Dante and Nero. Nero is the primary protagonist unlike previous DMC games. A great distinction between the two. Nero uses his demonic arm for grabbing and throwing enemies around and his weapons (gun and sword) only upgrade. Dante gets new sets of weapons which always you to switch at will between all of them. The gameplay is improved from DMC 3 and is more fun, stylish and flashier. The bosses are fantastic, even though they are repeated. Puzzles and platforming are okay but you can't help but feel that these are not a big part of the game. Has some camera problems though.

Graphics = 90 / 100
A big improvement over the PC of DMC3. The environments, character models are marvelous. Each environment is different from the previous and the production values are incredible. The bosses deserve as much admiration. Animation is incredibly fluid. Even the little details look stunning.

Sound = 87 / 100
A lesser stand point in the game. The music doesn't out better DMC3's great soundtrack but all in all its good overall. The sound effects pack some serious punch. Great voice acting from all the cast.

Presentation = 90 / 100
A game that should be played with a gamepad. It's not meant to be played on the keyboard. Fantastic presentation, from menus to the stunning cutscenes which will reel you into the story.

Performance = 89 / 100
My computer functions, but it can't handle the current PC games. I run the game with almost everything low, but the still looked beautiful. Turning off the shadows made the game move much more fluid. I mainly prefer performance than graphics, and you'll have to prefer performance over graphics to fully appreciate such a fast game.

Difficulty = Variable
Well varied. The first difficulty is welcoming over the original DMC3 for the PS2. But modes such as Dante must Die and Heaven or Hell are only for the most dedicated fans. Bosses offer a bigger challenge than normal enemies but remain fun and never cheap. The puzzles are straightforward most of the time and are only tough the first time. The platforming may remain infuriating always.

The Verdict = 88 / 100
There's not much to say. This game works even on the not so titan PCs, and it's a joy to play, a magnificently beautiful game and a deeply replayable game. It may not be a perfect fit as a PC game, but at the very least this port is a bigger success than the other DMC.
