A truly awesome game that may have been more awesome if the added features were used and expanded more.

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening was one of the best games I played in 2005. Now Capcom is releasing the game again in a new version of the same game with some new features in Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. Some features may be good and some are not so good but it still makes a great game that's worth buying over the original.

The game still follows the same adventure Dante took from before, fighting his way inside the Demonic Tower known as Temeni-gi-Ru (pardon the spelling) trying to prevent his older twin brother, Virgil from breaking the seal of the Demon World that their father, Sparda casted two milleniums ago.

A new addition to Dante's storyline is the Jester boss battle, which more like a rushed sub-mission rather than a real one. On three certain missions, lightning portals will appear infront of you mid-mission that'll teleport you to a arena where you'll fight Jester. It's the same fight over and over again for all three encounters except for the moves Jester takes during the battle.

The really cool new feature in Special Edition is that Vergil is now a playable character which is something you can't do in the original. By finishing the game once or just having a save file of the original you can take control of Vergil and enjoy some of his abilities which differ him from Dante. Vergil is armed with three weapons: Yamato, Beowulf, and Fierce Edge. He also has only one style which is Dark Slayer, which can be upgraded the same way Dante can. The downside of playing as Vergil is his storyline which is only a different opening but then inserts him in the same set of Missions in place of Dante.

Some new things included in the game is Turbo mode which well, increases the game speed. Very Hard mode which just increases difficulty from Hard mode without the circumstances from DMD or Heaven/Hell.
Bloody Palace makes it's return from Devil May Cry 2. This puts you in an arena full of demons for you to finish off. With 9999 levels this feature is a good way to level up your styles.

With the same soundtracks from the original this game cerainly isn't half-bad. For me this game is still worth to buy over the original, and for just $20 bucks it's a pretty good deal. This game will have you playing for months especially if your just playing it for the first time.
