Devil may cry 3:Special edition is another great game by Capcom. The game is A remake of the original Devil may cry 3 which was immensely difficult for players to tackle.
The special edition has many new features
1. A continue option (which was absolutely necessary when playing the very hard and Dante must die modes further in the game)
2. 3 boss encounters with Jester ( in which one was optional)
3. Bloody palace mode ( which has 9999 levels)
4. Playable character Vergil ( Dante's twin brother)
Story:
The story revolves around the two sons of sparda Dante and Vergil.
Sparda once sealed the evil entities off from the human world.
Vergil the twin brother of Dante wishes to resseruct the demon world into the present human world.
Gameplay:
While playing as Dante the player can choose specific styles
1. Trickster (avoid enemies using swift movements)
2. Royal guard (Blocking out enemy's attacks)
3. Swordmaster ( Perform more actions with swords and melee weapons)
4. Gunslinger ( Perform more actions with guns)
5. Quicksilver (Slow down time)
6. Doppleganger (create shadow of Dante to accompany in combat)
There are also a Large arsenal of melee weapons and guns available to the player
Each gun/weapon can be upgraded by buying new actions for it using demon orbs
Which are obtained, obviously by killing demons.
Whereas while playing the game as Vergil the player has only one style which is appropriately termed
Darkslayer (a variation of trickster which allows the player to instantaneously teleport to an enemy)
Vergil Has three primary weapons and Guns are replaced by magically summoned swords which are termed as.. you guessed it
Summoned swords
The actions which can be performed by each weapon are unique and stylized and can be switched on the move.Guns (not in the case of vergil) can also be switched in this manner which can lead to the most satisfying gameplay in an action game.
Each style and guns (summoned swords for vergil) Can be leveled up 2 times.
Presentation:
Devil may cry 3's presentation isn't as sharp as ninja gaiden or God of war but it does its job of keeping the players in an immersive and impressively beautiful world.
Glitches are rarely seen in the game and the frame rate is solid even during the high speed combo's which are a main aspect in devil may cry's combat.
Design :
The level design in devil may cry 3 is linear and The player may get lost only in the rarest of occasions. The player may sometimes not understand where to place certain items which May led to some confusion. Other than that the its just
Enter a room and eliminate every enemy move on.
The game also involves platforming which is not very frustrating and fairly easy to understand.
There are many enemies seen throughout the game which are increasingly difficult to kill as the player chooses the higher difficulty settings.
Final thoughts:
Overall the game is amazing giving players the ultimate sense of satisfaction when performing the most difficult of combo's and slaying the bosses.
Even though its graphics are not top notch it is one of the best Playstation 2 games ever made and is very hard to forget when once started playing.
The players who stick with the game and complete it on the higher settings Will receive extra costumes and artwork/movies in the gallery.
This is one of those games which you cant put down must have for all Playstation 2 owners.
