Destiny might be fun, but I can't tell

User Rating: 1 | Destiny PS3

Destiny is kind of pretty, but not as pretty as I expected for this level of game - playing on PS3 by the way.

The real catch to Destiny that it is an online game. And the online requirements are so healthy that Bungie is not actually capable of supporting them. Constant Bee, Caterpillar and Fly errors all indicate a network problem. But on a network test my PS3 measures out at about 6mbps down and about 600kbps up - which I would say is pretty good for a wi-fi connection. But it unfortunately is not good enough. Though I have never had any problems with COD, Battlefield, MassEffect 3, or any OTHER online game, Destiny creates network errors and removes me from the world every few minutes- too often to play.

And there is no Bungie help process. Bungie's guidance (using the term loosely) is that I have a network problem that I have to sort out. I followed ALL of their guidance, including defining pass through ports that they recommend - which I really kind of reject - Bungie you want me to play YOUR game by requiring me to have serious networking and security skills and defining all sorts of new and odd rules on my router - what % of players can even do that at all. Bungie's final "guidance" is to say I should hardwire my PS3 console directly to my Internet router - right, from 45 feet away in another room.

If Bungie had done real-world testing, they would have found out that their networking requirements were NOT realistic, and could not be reliably supported in the real world. I do not run a lab. My ISP is not a lab. Destiny does not run in a closed, controlled environment - hence Bungie says that ALL networking and communication problems are NOT their fault, but are instead, my...

ERROR - Removed from the world...
