User Rating: 7.5 | Delta Force: Black Hawk Down - Team Sabre (White Label) PC
Team Sabre is an expansion box for the Delta force black hawk down Pc game. Hereafter referred to as DFBHD. While I usually try to stay away from comparisons in my reviews this is an expansion set for another game so expect some comparisons with the original game. I was really looking forward to this title and to play the new missions and all since I really like the other Delta force games that I've tried. DFBHD being my favorite game in the series (although the AI left some to be desired) getting Team Sabre was a big moment in my gaming life, and many expectations flew around in my head. Will the Team Sabre campaigns live up to my expectations? There are two new campaigns, new weapons and a few new vehicles. On top of that, you get introduced to new brothers in arms. That can't fail right?

Graphics:
Well, using the same 3d-engine as the original game, of course, the way things work are not much different from the original campaign. The scenery is different though, for the most part, especially in the Columbian campaign where you operate in the jungle and fight to bring down a drug-lord called Paulo. There's one problem though. There are more things in the jungle than in the desert-scenery of the original campaign. With the same kind of programming this doesn't work very well and it's a bit more hardware-demanding. You'll frequently see bushes and shrubbery flying and hanging in the air etc. Also, glitches in the graphics are common like the fact that you can walk to the back of the transport helicopter in one mission and just walk through the back and stand on the back rotor-blade. These things are not disastrous though. What IS disastrous is that sometimes, like in the last of the Columbian missions, you can clearly see an enemy through a camouflage net but you can't shoot him. The playing works very smoothly though, as in the original game. Your team mates have changed a lot and look very cool and different from DFBHD. Depending on where the mission takes place the commandoes will sport Palestinian scarves, head bands, different helmets and so on. Very cool! The graphics ARE well drawn but poorly coded with tons of glitches. A great variety of missions make you forgive the game for it's many glitches. A cool and different mission in the Iranian campaign is definitely the oil-platform. It ROCKS!

Sound:
No real "hit" music as usual but rather indistinctive tunes and various rhythm-sections coming and going, occasionally it reminds me of the Full metal jacket soundtrack. It's very good mood-setter and sometimes it changes into a crescendo-like tune as you meet certain conditions in the missions. The sounds are as always very good and varied. The dialogues are light years ahead of the other games in the series and at times it actually made me laugh. My favorite is in the last Iranian mission as you will break into a huge medieval castle to take out a rogue Iranian general and your buddy is like "We're going to break into THAT?" My favorite sound would be the nice metallic sound of the repetition of the new sniper rifle (PSG-1) Awesome!

Game play:
Basically this is a very exciting game with much more variety in the missions than in the original campaign and it presents a challenge unequalled to anything in DFBHD. Herein lays the problem with this game. The difficulty is ridiculous at times. I always liked the idea of having a limited amount of saves for each mission in the original campaign. I don't mind a challenge and more often than not do I play the Medium or Hard difficulty when I play games. This is insane though. I can't even BEGIN to imagine what this is like on the hardest difficulty. It's difficult in the wrong ways. It's difficult because you have to remember where all the enemies are with RPG's. You could run passed a checkpoint and get the "Get back on mission" message and you'll have 1 second to turn around and hit the checkpoint or it's GO for you. The AI of your comrades is horrible. Expect to constantly get frustrated as they give away your position by not crouching. These things all add up to a frustrating sequel to the DFBHD and it feels very rushed, like Novalogic needed to release this before it was tested enough. It all runs very smoothly and nice though.

Lastability:
There are missions in here that I'd play again any day and there are missions that I'd never play again to save my life. After you've completed the campaigns there are many of the missions (and you only get 11 new ones) that you'll want to forget. All it does Lastability wise is to add a few missions that you'll play a few more times and that's it. I still come back for the new weapons though, but I'm not normal.

Overall:
I can't help to think that they could have done so much more of this release. It's rushed, glitched, over-priced and to be blunt; disappointing. I hate to say this as a big fan of the series. There is still a lot of cool game play and awesome new maps and weapons and who can deny the new cool green opening screen as you've installed the add-on.
