A brilliant NES port!
A particular point which sticks out in my mind is the street muggers. You either meet a guy with a gun, who you have to punch, and every time you meet him after punching him he has a black eye or something. punch him 4 times and he'll kill you. Another street mugger is a guy wearing a white vest. The only way to beat him is to offer him some coins, then he just complains about "small change" and hits you, but you escape uninjured and he takes nothing. Give him a note and he runs away happy. There's a woman called Sugar Shack, who says a bunch of guff, then says “I’ve got something for you right here” you have to punch her. You open her handbag and there’s a $20 note, lipstick and a handgun...hmm… which one was she planning to give to you again? (Spoiler- the gun, well not the gun, rather some hot lead)
1 little mistake in this game can cost you the whole game, I was playing through it a few days back and at the end where you dispose of evidence in the sewers and I threw away the wrong bit of evidence. It cost me the whole game, and I forgot to save, oh crap.
Graphics-8/10
Not very flashy, but they get the job done, but on the other hand, what were you expecting? It has still images, as do most point-and-click adventures.
Gameplay-10/10
It’s like one of those Point and Click adventures for PC, with (as per usual,) a good storyline Remember, one mistake can cost the whole game.
Sound-7/10
The tune is good at first, and then gets REALLY annoying.
Value-10/10
Huge Replay value, and there’s 2 stories to play through.
Pros-
- 2 stories to play through
- You won’t get bored of it quickly.
- Decent Storyline
- Interesting twists and features
Cons
- Both games different from their originals….
- Which means no alligators to shoot.
- Graphics are a bit dull, but they do the job, and pretty well
- Could be scary for 8 year olds.
Alternatives- Point and Click adventures on PC or Another Code on DS
