A solid towerdefence game!

User Rating: 8 | Defense Grid: The Awakening PC
Overall: 8.0/10.
A towerdefence game is all about gameplay, and since the gameplay is solid, the score gets high. This is fun to play and will kill a lot of time for you if you try it.

Graphics: 7.0/10.
There isn't any astounding 3D effects to this game, but then there should have to be either. You se all you need to se and it's fairly easy to spot the difference in all the towers and aliens.

Sound: 6.0/10.
The sound is OK. I get a bit tired of the music, but it's not bad music for this kind of game really, just repetitive when playing for long stretches. And the voice acting is OK, I guess it aims at being funny, but it's more a nice company at times... and it is rather repetitive when playing the same map over and over again to get the start right.

Game play: 9.5/10.
This sort of tower-defence game is all about gameplay and ease of use. This one is great in all aspects of that. The only thing I think is lacking is the fact that you cannot se the amount of kills a specific tower has dealt, which makes it hard to evaluate if it is worth it's cost. But you can easily control the build with both mouse, keyboard or - if you wish - a gamepad. The game has a high level of strategic planning and tweaking your tactics will get you a long way. Build the right tower at the right time at the right spot, and use your orbital laser wisely. If for some reason you think you did a mistake, just use backspace to move to the previous checkpoint.

Idea: 7.0/10.
This isn't the first game of it's kind. But it has a unique feel to it anyhow. If using Steam* for playing it, you'll have a nice but hard time to reach some achievements. And I haven't seen any other game like this with achievements on Steam.

Story 5.0/10.
Well, here I miss some ingredients. The missions comes in a linear progression without much of a story feel to them. The next to only thing is that you'll get more and more weapons, and hence choices, ingame. I finished the game and expected some kind of movie or some recognition of my achievement, but nope, not even a movie in the end. It would make me more in to the game if I saw some of the different aliens running around in movies also.
