A reason why this game outscores Resident Evil on sites that have reviews for both.

User Rating: 8 | Deep Fear SAT
Deep Fear is basically Resident Evil, but underwater. A virus had been created under the sea, and John Mayer, the main character, and his co-horts, need to find a way to contain the virus, but first find out what is is, snd what secrets lie ahead.

The Game takes place at the Big Table, a name of pretty much and underwater city with virtual parks and apartments. The game has quite a few areas and quite a few extras and even optional side missions.

The game controls like Resident Evil, although control of movement is better the controls are still very tank like. Combat is actually quite good and better than RE, fighting in small rooms is a lot less annoying to. The Enemies are programmed quite well too, although some of the places where they put them put some question marks.

In the game you not only explore the depths of the underwater city, but you can do a couple side missions, get awesome weapons, read clues and articles to learn about games and characters. Ride mechs, and more.

Another interesting part of this game is that once the big stuff goes down, there is an imbalance in parts of the city with air. You will need to keep and eye on your air gauge. Your gauge drops progressively and even faster while shooting weapons. Solutions are when you run out of air, you put on an air mask which has a limit, and once that's gone you are done. You will need to recharge this at stations. It's a good way to avoid losing when you run out of main air. Another option is air grenade. Which cuase the air in the room to escalate.

Another niffty feature is that air mask/breather is used to traverse areas that are flooded with water so you can explore the depths. Sometimes you will even need to fight underwater.

The characters and plot do a good job at being hilarious and surprising you with tension. As you go through the game you may not actually believe this but the closer you get to the end, the more the game gets you and at the end, you will feel like it was a horror experience you won't ever forget.

Boss battles are also pretty interesting and well done in most areas. Music matches the atmosphere and animation is quite good. The CGI is not 100% but the CGI scenes are plentyful and good.

There's quite some content in this game, and just rushing through the main story will take you quite sometime. The game has a few messages it tries to give players as well. A couple of these do quite a good job especially towards the end. The first disc does a good job gaining character interest and atmosphere. The second disc is action packed, filled with horror, and giving you all kinds of content. A complete package!!!

I highly recommend deep fear.
