More Necrophelia than Necromorph

User Rating: 5.5 | Dead Space 3 PS3
Playing Dead space was one of the best survival horror experiences of my life. Walking the cramped corridors of the Ishimura, dismembering the corrupted undead. Brilliant. DS2 was OK, but not a scratch on DS.

So I picked up a copy of DS3 cheap. What a waste!!

Playing this was completely unrecognisable to the DS's of old. Dare I say, It's gone down the same avenue as RE6 and given the middle finger to the survival horror genre that made it popular.

The story was boring, the controls at times are clunky, and some of the game seems as if the graphics department got a bit lazy. Imagine the board meeting :-

Graphic designer - "I can't be bothered to draw backgrounds today."

Project manager - "It's OK we'll base it on a Ice Planet, so some of the outside areas we'll put as rolling cloud render to make the player think it's an obscuring blizzard."

At no point during this game did I feel on edge, like the previous two games. Any vent on the wall would be welcomed with "Something's going to come out of there now", and 9 times out of 10 it would.

Whats up with the weapon system? What happened to the good old power node system? Why should I have to create weapons for bits of left over shit?

So, you can gather how I feel about this game. Like my title for the review states, EA have taken a good franchise and raped it good and proper.
