Yet again it's the same old tiresome Dead Space formula.

Let's start with the story. I'll be honest I'm not a total expert on the Dead Space story as a whole but I will say what I do understand, basically the Unitolgists have made yet another marker and earth has only one space marine force left to get rid of it, so they go after Isaac Clarke to get his help to destroy it and the only way to persuade him to go to the planet, is by persuading him by telling him that Ellie is captured there. So Isaac decides to go save her. As the last two Dead Space the whole story is around destroying the marker again, which is fine I suppose but no points for originality. Ellie in one point of the game was believed to be dead, but near the end you figure out that she is indeed alive but captured by the unitoligist's again, so you must save her and destroy the last marker and after that Isaac and Carver are believed to be dead but in the end Ellie can hear Isaac through his communicator. It's an alright story but feels a little bit too much like the past two installments of Dead Space.

Presentation: This is the best looking Dead Space yet; it looks really good and is one of the best looking games in this generation of gaming. The horror element in this game is also back, but... they really slacked off on this part, in the past 2 Dead Space they relied heavily on horror but on this one it split up between action and horror at the same time, which is fine it's not completely gone but I just wish that it would stay true to the name Survival Horror. The necromorphs also have a new design in this game and well... they are laughable, each one are holding wrenchs, may I ask why? Plus they just look a lot uglier and not in a scary way.

Gameplay: So it's your usual Dead space you go through dark corridors and a planet filled with snow that necromorphs hide under and jump up and scare you there are some parts of the game where it will be really scary and others that will just be like ehh oh well they tried. The biggest update to the gameplay is the change of the bench's and no store but a suit station. I'm going to be flat out honest. Why did they do this! Was this really necessary! The thing that made me so interested in the first Dead Space and even the second was the upgrade mechanic and now it's just turned into a complicated mess. So let me explain basically in the first two Dead Space you could easily upgrade your weapon by collecting Nodes, but now there's a bunch of variables in this one that just suck, who wants to break up the immersion of playing the game to complicate making new weapons and upgrades? Basically you've got the bench which will help you craft new weapons by collecting certain items, it's a waste of time and it's not worth it, and then you can also upgrade your weapons by collecting just upgrades you find for them and each one cancels out another certain variable, like for example if you used plus two damage it would have to be minus one reload, or capacity. Again why do this!? Then you have a suit kiosk which basically just changes your suit, and you can also upgrade your rig, kinesis, and Stasis which is put a lot more simpler then the way the gun upgrades are cause you just collect a bunch of scrap metal. Why couldn't they have done this in the first place with the bench? Besides that though Dead Space is Dead Space it's that same game you have been playing for the past two games, sure their isn't a whole lot different but it still makes for a somewhat fun game. The puzzles are alright. There was one where you had to put a certain necromorph together and you can barely see it, you might as well guess it's a joke! As you get to the end of Dead Space all of a sudden the difficulty spikes and not in a good challenging way in a stupid cheap way and the reason is because they start throwing all these necromorphs in their, no new ideas just make more enemies to make the game longer and more difficult. So EA obviously got lazy with the ending of the game. The final boss is actually really good, sure it's simple but I like it, you have to throw pieces of the Marker back at the monsters eye and it just honestly kind of fun I liked it.

Overall Dead Space 3 is nothing really new in the Dead Space trilogy but it still makes for a somewhat fun experience. It's a fun game it's just nothing new and I feel like they just refuse to add some type of new element to it too keep it fresh. Look I understand that it is what it is but I just feel like not only does the formula get stale but they keep adding new game mechanics that are ruining the series. These are just my opinions and it's just the way I feel. While this may not be the best in the series if you are a Dead Space fan then I guess I would say this game is worth getting.
