Dead Space 2 is a survival horror 3rd person action game.

I was reading the excellent reviews of Dead Space II and I can't help but take the game down a couple notches. Although Dead Space II is a fun game I don't think it should be getting more then an 8.0. So you play as Isaac Newton the survivor from part one. Except this time he's cursed with flashbacks of his dead wife an mental issues. Dead Space II creates an atmospheric environment but it's still very linear and it takes place in space so it's very lonely. You only meet a handful of characters through out the whole campaign. There's little story piecing the game together besides your one main goal of trying to figure out where the demons are coming from. The story line to me was the most lackluster part of the game. Granted it's a 3rd person action game so I'll give it some slack but I just never really got emotionally attached.
So after reading that your probably asking yourself.. then what exactly kept you playing until the very end? The ACTION. The weapons and upgrades made for a fun experience and blowing away different alien parts was never boring. Some of the demons you had to shoot at there tentacles, others you had to shoot their heads off before they spit acid at you. The battles were always fun and getting new nano suits and weapon upgrades was cool too. I died plenty of times thanks to surprise attacks and tough enemies so I was always on guard.
If your looking for a fun third person action game where you blow tons of demons to bits while in space then Dead Space II is for you. If your looking for something with more of an in depth story line and drama then you might want to check out another game.
