It's still Dead Rising!!

User Rating: 8 | Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition PC

From watching some of the previews and gameplay videos, I felt that one of my favourite franchises had lost itself amongst the numerous more realistic zombie games of late. Capcom's frequent (often desperate) milking of their games (ala. Off the Record and the more recent Super duper turbo whatever you call it) also contributed to my perception of what I was to look forward to.

As much as in my mind I hated the "seriousness" made to the series, after an hour or two, I had to admit that was still Dead Rising (happy smiley face :D).

Contrary to what the official GS reviewer said... "There's a wearying amount of roadblocks in the playable space too, and they rarely divert you into interesting areas. Mostly they break up the flow of driving, which becomes immediately obnoxious when some errand inevitably forces you to commute back and forth between multiple districts." Dead Rising has always been about boxed in open world - if thats not for you then you shouldn't be playing Dead Rising.

Something that Dead Rising 3 has lost is the really over-the-top goofy survivors from Frank's game and (a lot of you probably won't agree with me here) the emotional and touching story, which gave Chuck some urgency to stop Katey from turning into a zombie.

The psychos are still as the reviewer put it - ridiculously stereotypes - and rightly so!

I did enjoy my time playing the game, but sadly its not as unforgettable as its predecessors.
