An absoolute blast

User Rating: 9 | Dead Rising 3 XONE

Another one of those games that I've read reviews on and shook my head. Why so many 7s? I guess I was lucky in that I didn't encounter any technical hiccups that I've read about.

I've always been a big dead rising fan. The first dead rising was the whole reason I bought an Xbox360 and while I loved the game it was a tad difficult. Well first off I'm happy to say the difficulty in Dead Rising 3 is just right. It's made much easier by the ability to save anywhere, in fact with the exception of a small spike at the end of the game it may actually be a little too easy, Psychos can easily be killed with the proper weapon, but for me that removed a lot of the frustration of having to grind for experience and let me enjoy the chaos that is this game.

Now the graphics of this game are very good, are they next gen good? Well maybe not quite but let's face it I think we all know it's gonna be at least a year or two before we are gonna get games that look "next gen". No the real feeling I had that this game was next gen was at the beginning a plane crashes, as you make your way through the burning wreckage and out the other side you look down at a highway littered filled with zombies. This was my "whoa" moment. I have never seen so many enemies on a screen at once. There were other times I would actually be driving and have my car hit a giant mob of zombies and literally stop as if I hit a brick wall. I loved this aspect, and nothing was more enjoyable than getting a high powered combo weapon and jumping into the middle of them and start swinging away.

Combo weapons are hit or miss, so are awesome like attaching dynamite to meat and watching it take out about 50 zombies at a time and others not so much i.e. attaching guns to teddy bears or shopping carts.

There's so much more in this game that I enjoyed, the Psycho battles are a blast, there are challenges to beat like killing so many zombies within a set time frame with fire or electricity based weapons and even co-op for you and an online friend.

For me this was the perfect launch title.
