Truely one of the best
The best DOA game in my opinion, it only falls short of Soul caliber on the Dreamcast...
The Graphics
for a game released back then, this game featured the best graphics in any fighting game... the character models looked way ahead of their time.... the characters animations are smooth... this was probably visually the greatest game ever on the not so succesful dreamcast,
Gameplay
this is truely one of the best 3d fighters on earth.... Unlike tekken there are only two buttons KICK and Punch... these can be joined together to make some Great combos, this game focuses on fast action unlike VF.... button mashing wont get you far in this game... because experienced players can counter almost anything easily.... countering does do major damage.... countering requires just the press of button at the right time... there is a lot of depth in the fighting aspect of the game....for example.... Juggling a heavy character is Harder and juggling a light character is easier... but the heavy characters move slower and the lighter one's move faster... there are many interesting characters to choose from.... and u can really feel the difference between a light weight and lightning fast Hayabusa and a strong and powerful but slower LEON or BASS..... the story mode is kind of lame.... it's very predictable... but atleast every fighter has his own ending of sorts.... the true highlight of this game is the tag team matches... tag team matches gives the players the ability to instantly switch between fighters.... which makes chaining combos great... for example... if you pick two fast fighters.... u can just knock your opponent in the air... switch your character and get 6-7 hits on your opponent while he is in the air..... there are also combined tag team moves... which are absolutely visceral.... the difference between fighter to fighter is fantastic... each fighter has very different moves to another.... away from the story mode.... there is the survival mode and time attack mode..... the great thing about this game is you can choose a fighter that suits your style perfectly.... TO this day i think this is the best DOA games....
u will spend a lot of time playing this... but the scantly clothed girls will sometimes make you sick...
Sound
Sound during matches and music is fairly good.... the japanese or chinese muttering from the characters feel cool..... the music isn't outstanding.... the sounds when you hurt your opponnent is satisfying, but every time u win you get a robotic "WINNER" or "GREAT"... like any cheesy japanese or chinese game trying to talk stylish english
overall
Must buy... truely a masterpiece... those who think not... should go play some barbie games or something....this is fast paced perfection.. u will spend a good part of your life playing this.... it is a truely fantastic experience... this was the best and is the best DOA game.......9.5/10
