If you are looking for a story driven zombie apocalypse game, look elsewhere. Dead Island isn't a game that I would call deep in story. What it is is a fun first person zombie hacking game with some beautiful open environments and large variety of weapons.

Ok, you can't write a review without mentioning the huge mess up for PC on release. It was rather disappointing to get the game then find it pretty much unplayable, but once it was patched the fun began. But, there are still some issues beyond the mess up that hold this game back from being a great game. The inventory, map, and quest log system is obviously for a console. The quests them selves are a little disjointed in there execution (ex. You meet one person who says find my sister who is really far away, once you find her she says get me this item which is right next to the person who started the chain. once you give it to her you then have to go back to first quest giver who then send you right back to the sister for you to say she is ok).

All in all Dead Island is a good game that could have been a great game.
