A sad let down.

User Rating: 3 | Daylight PS4

When i bought Daylight i was expecting a fun and interesting horror game, especially since it was coming from my favorite publisher; Atlus. However after I played it I found myself disappointed. Lets have a look at why:

THE GOOD:

The game controls well on the PS4 controller. It never feels awkward trying to do any of the actions in the game.

THE BAD:

Oh where to begin? The game itself hardly runs on the PS4. Right at the beginning of the game the frame rate immediately started chugging and every time I play it the game seems to take a couple minutes before the frame rate actually becomes tolerable. It is also a very dark game. Now i know horror games are supposed to be dark but they have to be playable. I had to really crank up the brightness to really be able to see what the helk I was doing or where i was going.

The story to me was very uninteresting and is filled with cliches that you could predict from the very beginning of the game and has the biggest problem a horror game can have: It's not scary. The game seems to borrow elements from outlast and Slender and pulls off none of them. Enemies only attack you if you are close enough and looking at them. This is a problem when you are able to spot enemies from a mile away and just turn around until they go away. even if they catch up to you they can't attack you if you use a flair. And i can guarantee that you will always have a flair on you. I will admit I sorta jumped the first time the ga,e mad that loud noise and i say something standing in the distance, but that was the most that has ever happened. after that all the enemies felt more like an annoyance than a threat. They're just there to make you stop for 30 seconds and look away before you can move on. The game turns out the lights and makes spooky noises to try to scare you and honestly doesn't pull it off. If you want an interesting, exciting, and actually scary game experience I would suggest that you spend the extra 5 bucks and buy outlast
