Only game I've ever seen that comes with it's own bibliography.

I love the realism of Darklands. The idea of an RPG based in the real world, or at least a medieval perception of what was real, was an absolutely brilliant concept. I loved the fact that there were no a-typical character classes, there were just people, who you guided into different occupations and skills. The monsters were not made up by the programmers but rather pulled from real mythology and lore.
This game taught me more about medieval history and Germanic geography than I ever learned in school. This game absolutely needs to be recognized and either remade or have a sequel. The possibility of an expanded European version would be incredible.
I strongly suggest tracking this down for anyone who's into German history, or any RPG buffs who enjoy the retro games. I would also recommend downloading DOSBox or some other DOS emulator to run it.
