Romans vs Machine Guns

OK we all have to admit we love "what if" scenarios and this little game here builds upon that idea and adds another favorite, time travel. A small game with a great concept and feeling like a breath of fresh air after such a boring August. Now of course being a game with a smaller budget than other huge FPS franchises, DoD really tries to be something interesting. Well let's get to it.
Now graphics will be a little weak by some peoples standards but in my opinion they fit well with the game and they also help people with a cheaper or older game to enjoy this nice shooter. Of course you can see some textures a little wrong, and the fire looks kinda funny, but if killzone 2 got away with the fire thing I guess we can forgive DoD as well.
The story, well not much to complain and not much to say either, your a soldier rescued by a time traveler at General Custard's Last Stand, why? Well don't ask me, i just wanted to get on killing ancient and classic civilizations with a grenade launcher and many other weapons. Of course you're again THE ONE who has to solve a mystery behind the disappearance of the guy who supposedly invented time travel and founded Kronotech, the guys you now work for. As I said the story is a bit cheesy but I like these B-movie kind of scenarios. Anyway its a FPS, not the next expansion to Mass Effect so who cares about the story, I mean really. If you want great plot and old those things you're a little to demanding, we're talking here about a small game, with big dreams.
Sound, well here we have positive and negative things. So negative things are the voice acting, I mean you will caught in a firefight, and your npc allies will something like "aww, they're shooting at us.... let's hide" calmly hiding like we we're at a picnic. The good thing about the sound are the weapons which all sound great, and speaking of weapons the designs are great. As a bonus to the sound I loved the used actual actors to voice in russian for example or even german ( hear that raven? we want in a nazi game to hear german speaking soldiers)
Anyway the game is fun, you can pick it up and play, and enjoy it.
Its not to hard except the occasional sharpshooter npc's but rather than that I can't complain, its a shooter and that's it. Also it does a good job of offering some atmosphere, but let's not get carried away, it's not Bioshock. Anyway I liked the first 2 missions where you either mow down Germans in WW1 or fight in the civil American war. The rest ur gonna have to find out for yourself.
All in all i say this game deserves a play, I mean sure the multiplayer is missing but who knows, maybe if they get the chance for a sequel then maybe we will have a ww1 against 2100 fight. Until then enjoy!
