Dark Void had potential, but it didn't act upon it.

User Rating: 7 | Dark Void X360
Picking up Dark Void was something that I've wanted to do for a while, so I finally did. Dark Void under no circumstances is a bad game, but simply one that is more of a missed opportunity.

Dark Void does what a lot of games don't try, and that's adding a flying mechanic. That's the real star of the show here but unfortunately you don't get much free flying time until later in the game. Most of the first part of the game is filled with shooting galleries, that are, well.. oddly addicting. Shooting is pretty boring compared to other shooters like Call of Duty and Red Faction, but its still fun in it's own right.

Pros:
+ Decent Graphics
+ Great Flying Sections
+ Nice Voice Acting

Cons:
- Somewhat Confusing Story
- Unexciting Shooting
- Enemies Take Way Too Many Bullets

Presentation: 7/10
Things look nice all around, and the cut-scenes aren't bad. But the story gets too confusing to get you involved.

Graphics: 8/10
Its actually a nice looking game. The only problem I have with it is the lack of variety. The entire game pretty much takes place in the jungle.

Sound: 7/10
Nice voice acting. Though the music is very easily forgettable

Gameplay: 6/10
Shooting is boring, enemies take WAY too many bullets. Like they can take a full clip and a half. Though the flying sections are a lot of fun.

Lasting Appeal: 5/10
Very few people will remember this game, due to the fact that nobody is really going to want to play it after their first go through.

Should I get it?
If you're looking for a cheap game (like within the $10 range) this is a nice game to hold you down for a while. I can't give Dark Void a full hearted recommendation though.
