I just couldn't get over bad graphics and abysmal controls.

User Rating: 3 | Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition PC
Being huge fan of RPGs I really wanted to like this game. Moreover, I was encouraged by high scores this game received on all platforms. But it just ended up being constant frustration with probably worst controls I have ever encountered in a PC game. Add to that graphics that looks like they belong in 2003 and you have unappealing mess that makes it almost impossible to enjoy game's content.

Controls felt like lifted straight from console with bare minimum effort to adopt it for keyboard and mouse. The in-game directions given still seemed to refer game controller, even though I don't have one. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out basic functionality and when I finally knew what to press it turned out to be unresponsive and clumsy. I'm guessing at this point that some people would advise me to play the game with game controller and I have simple answer to that- no, I won't. When game is ported from PC to console players should not be expected to get mouse and keyboard. It's responsibility of developer to modify it for the given platform. Same goes with graphics.

I wish I could say that the game wowed me with graphics. Despite setting the game to higher resolution the textures reminded me some games I played ten years ago.

At this point it's obvious what happened here - game creators wanted share of profits from PC market without putting any effort to adopt it to PC platform. Add insult to the injury, gamespot review gives this game 9.5, near perfect score. Which is telling developers that they can be lazy and get away with lousy ports.

I have no doubt Dark Souls is a great game - on consoles. So my advice would be to get in on console and spare yourself the garbage they released on PC.
