Just your basic side scrolling jet shooter, complete with bosses and power-ups.

User Rating: 7.1 | Darius Twin SNES
I still enjoyed Darius Twin, but it really is only your basic side scrolling shooter. It can be played with one or two people, which puts you in the roll of jet fighters trying to save Earth. You do this buy going on missions which throw hordes of enemies at you followed up by an oddly shaped end boss that requires some special tactic in order to kill it. The graphics are decent, with nice foreground and background, though it's nothing spectacular. Not to mention the background eventually just turns into different colored clouds. The sound and music is pretty good with some decent sound effects and music that fits the game quit well. Throughout the game, while killing enemies, you'll gain power ups, which either give you a better primary fire (that shoots directly in front of you), a better secondary fire (That shoots NW, NE, SW, and SE) and shields. There's also a few different paths of these power ups which gives the game a little bit of replayability just to see all the different power ups. There's also the fact that, if playing multiplayer, you need to decide who gets what. For all else, the game is exactly like the rest. Shoot down as many enmies as possible without dying and finding out the strategy required to kill the end bosses. Although Missions take place in paths as well. Usually you'll have a choice of which mission to do, out of about 2, that will lead you down a different strand of missions, although all still end up on the same last level. The missions are still pretty varied in what the background and foregroud present, but otherwise they're all basically the same. If you're just dying for a side scrolling shooter, and an old one at that, Darius Twin is a pretty decent game. However, I wouldn't spend anything over $5 on it, there's alot else out there worth your money.
